At some point in our lives, we have experienced the need for personal growth. A lot of things prompt this, such as a new career, a change of environment, books we read, people who influence us, or simply the desire to improve our lives. For me, it was a new professional challenge.
I have a passion for teaching, and I love teaching kids in a foreign land- Japan. However, when the pandemic hit, I was challenged to pursue a new path. I entered the world of blogging. And today, I am sharing my personal growth journey as a blogger. Here are invaluable lessons I have learned from blogging.

In this post, I share my personal growth journey as a blogger.
My blog has helped me grow in many different aspects of life. It has taught me how to write better, how to improve my photography skills, and how to become a better person overall.
Before I began my journey
When we start something new and step into the unknown, there are bound times when we feel scared. When we step out of our comfort zone, it becomes uncomfortable. That feeling of fear and self-doubts are natural reactions.
I was not an exception. With the creativity and new ideas already proliferating around me, I had doubts about myself if I can stand out and find my place in the field of blogging.
But I was determined to make a real change and pursue my wild dreams. I prepared myself to take action. I started by setting my mindset to success and acknowledging that every journey begins with fear and it is natural to doubt yourself. My desire to change my career outweighed my dread of failure and risks.
Tony Robbins, my favorite author, said the only impossible journey is the one you never begin. Indeed, a lot of people dream big but most of us succumb to fear and never start.

Things we can learn from blogging
We can always learn something from trying new stuff. Start a new career and you’ll open yourself to opportunities, get new connections, or find your passion. Start a business and you’ll learn that success happens over time, through hard work and dedication.
In blogging, I learned that we need the right strategies to succeed in the field. You need the right strategies on how to attract followers, how to promote your content, or even how to buy Instagram likes. Yes, if you’re a blogger, or a brand one of the best methods to reach potential customers is to buy a large number of likes for your photos.
But my journey is not all glamorous. I had frustrating times when I felt I was not making any progress at all. There were times when I almost gave in to the power of doubts and failure.
If you are in the same phase, I hope that this article will inspire and motivate you to keep going on whatever journey you are taking. Remember, making your dreams a reality requires daily actions and consistency.
1. Build your personal brand by being unique and authentic
Blogging has gotten really popular these days. To date, there are 1,742,813,617 websites worldwide (source Internet Live stats)That’s a lot of websites and it can be intimidating to find a place, but every person is unique.
Everyone has a story to tell and there will always be room for you. By being the most authentic self you can be, you will find people that will love and support what you do. Find your own voice to inspire people, be yourself and people will find you. Add it with consistency and expect to reach the destination you desire.
Lyn Slater, an Instagram influencer is the perfect example of being yourself, defying social norms, taking the first step, and taking action. The majority of beauty and lifestyle bloggers are millennials or under 35 years old.
A few people would think that 50- plus influencers don’t stand a chance but Lyn Slater is a true example of influence marketing of all ages. She is true to herself that she only works for brands that don’t use the term “anti-aging”. Allow me to say, she truly is changing the perception around age in beauty. How inspiring and empowering is that?
2. Know the trends within your niche
Social networks are everywhere these days. There are new trends popping up over the internet. If you are a blogger, it is essential to know the trends within your niche to be able to adapt and change strategies in accordance with what people are searching for.
Pinterest and Instagram are the social media accounts that I focus on and from time to time, they change their algorithms. Instagram has its reels now and If you want to build authority and find your audience, you got to adapt to these marketing strategies.
Know what’s best for your business and use helpful tools such as a hashtag generator or keyword research. This will help you find relevant things to post about, and what to include in your posts in order to reach as many people as possible.
Did you know that 80% of the population are smartphone users? Look out for more information about Mobile eCommerce updates and trends to help your business and your blog.
Social media is changing rapidly, the algorithm is unpredictable and it’s important to familiarize yourself with the changes. Don’t be afraid of these changes. Use trial and error instead. Experiment and find out what best works for your business.
3. Be your own cheerleader
Ultimately, we need support in order to keep going. We need to encourage ourselves to keep moving forward with our goals, but it can be hard to get the support we need from the people around us. In these times, be your own best cheerleader.
Be the biggest fan of your work. Be proud of it. Believe in it because you worked hard on it. You are your own internal motivation when negative messages from people become louder.
I was excited to announce when my blog went live, but to my disappointment, my family did not even know what a blog was. They could not understand how someone can make a living on the internet. But this did not stop me from taking another step forward. When you value yourself in spite of the negativities, it is worth the journey.
4. Your business won’t survive without a community

I supposed you have heard this quote from Helen Keller Alone, we can do so little. Together we can do so much. It is true that we don’t have to do it all alone. In any aspect of life, it’s okay to not know everything and ask for help.
Having your community is essential to success. There are people who have succeeded in your field. They have taken the path you are taking so ask for support and collaboration.
In the world of technology and social media, it’s so easy to compare ourselves to other people, but remember that your journey is uniquely yours, and what others are doing is only a distraction. The only thing you should be comparing yourself to is you from yesterday. Strive to be better than what you were yesterday.
Find inspiration in your community. Follow along the journeys of other people and learn from their stories. I love Daniela Titiun’s story, an influencer at Intellifluence. She’s got a unique and inspiring story to share. Her background is mainly business and fashion, but she always had a thing for tea. Just like her, my passion was for teaching and education, but writing has always fascinated me.
I wanted to chase my dream of writing what I know is helpful to people and writing things that I know can inspire people.
5 . Be patient, real growth is incremental and slow.
There were times when I look at the successes of fellow bloggers, and I would feel bad about myself and get disappointed because I was not getting the same results. This is your reminder to be patient. You might not get big results instantly, but I am pretty sure that we have progress every day. As long as you are enjoying the process, and celebrating your wins, you are on the right track to pursuing your dreams.
You might see someone who is skilled at something, they learned that over time. If you know someone who has a lot of money and is successful in their business, they earned it over time.
Do not fall into the trap that success can happen overnight. Be patient, you have your own timeline of success. The process of learning is more valuable than the outcome.

6. Consistency is the Key
There are many things we can learn from blogging and one of them is consistency.
Consistency is the key. Cliché as it may sound but it holds power. Success is built with consistency. In blogging, this means uploading articles regularly and showing up with your audience every day.
For my blog, I spread a daily dose of inspiration through articles, quotes, and Monday motivational videos. I try to be visible, and I show myself online.
Staying consistent will bring you close to your goals. One tip that I use is to be consistent in planning and batch-creating my content. I would plan my social media posts and create them in bulk. Schedule them for the whole month.
It saves so much energy and time. I like to schedule my articles too in advance. By being consistent, I earn the trust of my audience and I can show up myself regularly.

Why did I start blogging
I started blogging because I wanted to share my experiences with others. I was tired of feeling alone and I wanted to connect with people who were going through similar situations as mine.
When I first started blogging, I didn’t know what I was doing. I had never written anything before, let alone posted it online. I thought I would be able to write something interesting and then post it on social media. However, I quickly realized that writing was much harder than I expected. I found myself struggling to come up with topics and ideas. I felt like I couldn’t get enough content out of myself. I tried to force myself to write, but nothing came out. I was stuck.
After reading several blogs, I learned that there were many different ways to blog. Some people wrote about their daily lives, while others focused on travel destinations. Still, other bloggers wrote about their passions, such as cooking, fashion, or DIY projects. I decided to try blogging because I wanted to share my thoughts and experiences with others. I knew that if I could connect with readers, I would eventually find success. I started making a difference, and blogging has changed me to become a better version of myself.
What advice would I give to someone who wants to start their own blog?
If you are thinking about starting your own blog, then I would say go for it! There are so many benefits to having your own blog. You will learn a lot about yourself as well as others. You will also gain confidence by writing and publishing your thoughts and ideas.
The only right time to start is now.
Sharing is Caring
