My blog turns one year this August 20th and I am so thrilled to write my first 500 dollar income as a blogger. This might not be a huge amount but I felt like I just won a million dollars when I finally hit my income goal. I started my blog when the pandemic hit. We were forced to stay and work at home.
Many people lost their jobs and for a lot of people, this was an unfortunate turn of events. The pandemic has taught us many lessons. One of which is that nothing is permanent in this world. This is also the time when I discovered new hobbies and new skills.
I got into the world of basic programming that leads to publishing my own site. I want to share my blogging journey and How I monetize my blog so I can inspire fellow bloggers. When I was still starting, I would love to read income reports from the experts as it inspired me to work hard on my blog and achieve the same thing.
There are many ways to make money with your blog and you are only limited by your imagination. Today, I am sharing some strategies and platforms that I used to generate a decent amount from my blog. before we dive in though, let’s look into the benefits blogging has given me.
Table of Contents
Blogging іѕ great writing еxреrіеnсе
I used to hate writing in college. It just didn’t come naturally to me. I would stare at a blank paper and it would take me quite a while to write something. It is frustrating when you can’t express yourself and you can’t find the right words to convey your message.
It was until I read the book of Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic, I was able to unleash that creativity and interest in writing. She shares her wisdom and perspectives about creativity. There are many ways you can be creative and express yourself, but I chose writing.
Blogging is the best way to show your creativity in writing. Although I didn’t try to blog right away, I practice with my journal almost every day. Repetition is the mother of skills. If you want to be good at something, practice daily and be consistent.
Blogging allows роtеntіаl of ѕеlf-grоwth
Blogging is not easy. It’s not just writing and publishing it on the web. There is more to it but the best thing that happened to me is it gave me ample opportunity for growth. It gives so much weight to my personal growth journey.
Broadcasting yourself and putting yourself online gives you time for reflection and perspective. When you look back at your past work and ideas, you can learn from them hence, it allows the potential for self-growth. Putting your ideas and work online, allows creativity to grow, as well as your confidence and goals
Broadcasting yourself оnlіnе аllоwѕ time for rеflесtіоn and perspective. Yоu’ll bе аblе tо look bасk at раѕt work and ideas. You can lеаrn from thеm by promoting nоt only a fоrm of a dіаrу еntrу, but аlѕо thе іdеа of ѕеlf-grоwth. Bу placing уоur іdеаѕ іnto a рublіс fоrm, it аllоwѕ your creativity tо grow, as well аѕ уоur соnfіdеnсе and goals.
Speaking of goals, I finally achieved my 500 dollar income for July. After months of working on my blog, I was able to make money from it. Note that I don’t work full-time for my blog. I have a 9-5 job and I mostly work for 3 hours every day.
How I achieved my first 500 dollar income as a blogger

Blogging is not dead and you can make real money from it. You can even start monetizing your blog from the first month. I did a few mistakes in my early months of blogging but that’s another blog post. For now, let me share with you some strategists. to make money from blogging.
1. Sponsored posts
What are sponsored posts? Margaret Bourne, a blogging coach has a dedicated post for that. But sponsored posts are when a brand collaborates with you to write for them, publish on your blog in exchange for compensation.
There are many platforms you can use to get brand collaborations. My favorites are Get Blogged and Inteliffluence. I also recently discovered Shake the Marketplace where you can sell your services. I offer blogpost writing for $60- $100 for content writing and $40 dollars for Instagram Video unboxing.
Here are my sponsored posts for July. I have been compensated a total of $185 to write these posts and did blogposts writing for $100.
BUYING A HOUSE IN MAJOR CITIES? HERE ARE 5 THINGS NOT TO DO
10 THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN RENTING AN APARTMENT
One thing I did that helped me achieve my income goal this month is to send email pitches to brands that I love. This is something I learned from taking the course of Chelsea, owner of paper route. I took her course paid to post a few months back and I only got time now to apply what I learned.
Think of the brands you love and related to your niche. Send them an email to propose a collaboration. A lot of times I don’t get any response but that’s normal. It is worth being proactive and sends pitches to brands.
2. Advertorial
According to Hubspot, The concept of an advertorial is an advertisement that is written in the form of editorial content. Brands will provide the content for this but I like to edit it still. I like to provide the same quality content as my blog post, especially the word count and the tone.
There’s nothing much I can say about this since the opportunity arrived in my inbox. But the things to consider to get such opportunities are your DA (Domain Authority), blog traffic, and your niche. Brands would love to work with you if you have a higher Domain.
I went up from DA 9 to DA 13 and I am so happy to see the results of my hardwork. I have been guest posting and writing content for other websites in exchange for backlinks to my site. I have written a total of 8 articles and submitted them to higher authoritative sites.
I collaborated with Lumina homes for my OFW Property Investment post and I received $100 dollars.
3. Blog Advertisment
I offer a blog advertisement package for fellow bloggers. You can get extra promotions for your site. You can easily get a do-follow backlink to your site and exposure to a new audience.
You can take advantage of my advertisement package for only $10. It will increase brand awareness and will invite more traffic to your site.
I got an extra $50 dollars for the advertisement since I did events promotions and social media posts.
I receive payments through PayPal for all of these. Let me show you a screenshot of my Paypal balance. Other payments are deposited directly to my bank.

4. Instagram Sponsored Post
I signed up for many platforms to get collaborations on my social media accounts. You can try Izea or Tap Influence. I was able to secure one Instagram collaboration for $30 dollars. It’s not much but I would like to focus more on these platforms and hoping to secure mores collaborations.
I also signed up for Blog meets brand and Activate I applied for a few campaigns but I have not been accepted in any yet. But that’s okay! Just keep applying and opportunities will show up sometime.
5. She Media Ads

It was April when I started getting 5000 plus page views and most of my traffic comes from social media such as Facebook and Pinterest. I was with Google Ads at this time but I found She Media network and I heard it is so much better so I switched immediately.
My first payment from She Media came at the end of July and I got $80. As your traffic increases the higher chances the ADS are seen on your blog so I would love to promote my blog more. I have been doing link swapping with fellow bloggers. It is easy and very effective to promote your blog.
6. Affiliate marketing
This is my favorite way to bring passive income. Although, I don’t get much from it yet. I started bringing in money to my blog by promoting affiliate links. I signed up for Share a Sale and Impact Radius and successfully gained $27.59
It is my goal now to curate quality blogposts that provide value to my readers as well as promote the products I also love. Some of the products I love to promote are Promptly journals, Blinkist and Italki.
My Blog Expenses
If I get income from my blog, of course, let’s not forget the expenses. However, for July I didn’t have many expenses since I try to get annual plans as much as possible to save money. My Web hosting subscription with Siteground is good for one year so is my Ivory mix membership. All these beautiful pictures I put on my site are from Ivory mix.
I highly recommend paying for memberships and subscriptions yearly to save more money for your blog. I also invested a lot in blogging courses a few months back and these courses really opened opportunities for me in blogging.
My expenses for July include canva subscription ($14)and Flodesk ($19), my email provider. Flodesk is usually $38 per month but you can use my referral link to get 50% off. I love flodesk because of its beautiful email templates and email automation. I also use Planoly ($7) to plan my social media posts and schedule them in advance. It is such a time saver for me because I don’t have 8 hours every day to work on my socials.
My total expenses for the month are $40.
Sharing is Caring

OVER TO YOU
So I made a total of $545 in July with only $40 devoted to my blog. I am so happy and proud of myself for this month since I achieved my income goals. I will definitely work harder to grow my blog and reach more income in the following days, months, and years. I hope that this brings value to you and will serve as an inspiration. Blogging can be overwhelming but it is all worth it when you enjoy what you do. Stay inspired and motivated.
Are you a blogger? How do you monetize your blog? I would love to know your thoughts.

I started blogging as a way to support my fun STEM book for kids, Chemical Reactions, due out October, 2021. (If covid allows!) I love research and science. Deferring my costs would help so I’m going to delve into your ideas. Thanks.
