Here are my Financial goals in 2023
I spent much of my twenties struggling financially but this time I want to make a difference and make things a little bit better.
Short-term financial goals vs. long-term financial goals
Short-term goals are those that will help you achieve your immediate objectives. They’re usually things like saving money for a vacation or paying off debt. Long-term goals are those which will help you reach your ultimate objective. These could include buying a house, starting a family, or retiring early.
To give you examples, my short term financial goals in 2023 include to pay off all my debts and increase my savings. I want to make sure that I am debt free by the end of next year. This means paying off any credit cards because yes I got myself into a credit card debt from the past few years.
1. Increase my savings
First thing first, I want to make sure that I am saving money for my future. I know that I should set aside some money each month for emergencies, but I don’t always do it. I think that I could use a little help such as savings calculators getting organized. I would like to start setting aside $100 per month towards to increase my savings.
One good advice that I got from a friend is to set up automatic payments to transfer money from your bank account to your savings account every month, so you don’t need to think about it. I believe this will help me save money, because I won’t have to worry about forgetting to make the payment.
2. Read more personal finance books
My financial goals in 2023 include increasing my savings, paying off debt, and reading more finance books. Reading books make us wiser and I want to keep reading books. It does not actually change things around for us but it gives us a better money mindset.
The first finance book I read was “You are a badass at making money” by Jen Sincero. I was left inspired and motivated to work on my finances so I highly recommend this.
3. Build an emergency
One of the most important things to consider when making financial goals in 2023 is to build an emergency. It is the first step towards financial security is to build up an emergency fund and we all know the importance of it. I even wrote some tips here to build an emergency fund.
I think that the best way to build an emergency fund is to save money regularly. As my goals, start saving $100 per month now, and you’ll have enough saved up to cover three months’ worth of living expenses if you lose your job or get sick.
4. Increase my credit score
Why is increasing my credit store on my financial goals in 2023? It’s because I have plans to buy a house in Japan. And you know, your credit score is used by lenders to determine whether you qualify for a house loan. It helps them decide if you will repay the money you borrow. The higher your score, the better chance you have of getting approved for a loan.
Your FICO score is calculated based on information about how you pay your bills, how long you’ve been paying those bills, and how much debt you have. It’s important to keep track of all your payments, so don’t forget to check your statements regularly. You’ll want to make sure you’re not late on any bill, and if you find yourself falling behind, contact your lender right away.
Credit card payment calculators are a big help in managing credita card debts. When managed well, if not preserves you good credit, but also increase credit score.

5. Keep my side hustles and increase my blog income
Being an Assistant Laguage Teacher in Japan gives me ample time to do some side hustles. I love that my full time job allows me to do other kinds of work like blogging and I intent to keep my side hustles in 2023.
I am also working hard to increase my blog’s DA and do more guest postings. I want to secure more collaborations in 2023 to increase my blog income.

What are your financial goals to set in 2023?
Setting financial goals is easier said than done. It’s one thing to say you want to retire early or take your dream vacation in two years, but it’s a totally different thing to make it happen. I hope my list sparked some inspiration in you though to set and create your own financial goals to amke 2023 the best.
These are some useful financial goals to have for next year; I think I am going to be doing something very similar. I need to make a few changes and focus on setting some goals like this!
Setting financial goals is a very sensible thing to do. Your list is very helpful and allows you to start thinking about about where and how to save. Very Useful post.
My financial goal is to sock away more money, and start taking my side hustles a little more seriously.
I might stop doing product reviews. The taxes are so high at the end of the year and they’re all counted as income. I’m sure there’s a better way to have a real income to report on taxes than just products I’ve reviewed on my website.
Oh, you’ve got a great plan. My goal is to earn as much I can.
Everyone should set financial goals. My profession is finance/accounting, so this comes naturally to me. For next year, I want to boost my 401k savings and my cash reserves- they are far too low.
Increasing savings and having an emergency fund are both really important. I’m glad you have everything set for next year. Much luck!
My husband and I have a date set to plan our finances for next year. We have our emergency fund and high credit scores already but are looking to purchase some land so will be increasing our side hustles.
I also need to increase my savings personally although as a couple we’re good. I have found that a mantra by Susie Orman has great results over the long run: I have more money than I know what to do with. Good luck with your financial goals in 2023!
You have a great plan in place, and I think you’ll definitley do well with it. My biggest upcoming goal is to be more organized, honestly.
